It is a joy, even in this dreary rain, to finally sell one of my pieces from my senior show. Each year during the senior show, the president of our college selects one piece from the entire show to purchase. This honor has come to be known as, “The Presidential Pick”. This past spring it was my piece, Irish Jig, that was selected by President Mullen. I was very honored to sell my work to her and to have one of my pieces join her beautiful collection of work. She received her vases late January and I received the check in the mail yesterday. It was a great “pick-me-up” from all of the rain we have been getting! We had a wonderful show, and it was a pleasure to have our best work on display. There were eleven seniors in the show exhibiting work of all mediums: photography, painting, video, ceramics, and printing.
We had one of the best turn outs for our show, nearly 400 guests! It was a great evening of good food, fellowship, and art. Since I am from Maryland and went to school in New York, my parents didn’t have many opportunities to see my work – so it was great to have them at my show and see most of my work for the first time. I am excited to see what the show will look like this coming spring and to see what this year’s seniors have been working on.
