Officially (and finally) open for business

That’s right, my kiln is all hooked up and ready to be fired, my wheel is plugged in and my clay is stacked up and ready to be thrown!  This means, I am able to take special orders now.  This is pretty huge for me.  I finally feel like I getting closer to my business and artist goals.

The kiln is plugged in to its very own outlet and power box!

Last night I headed over to my “studio” to bring over some tools and get my supplies organized and ready to go.  I was so excited to see the kiln plugged in and the lights were on…ready to go!  I didn’t do much more than bring my stuff over and take some pictures.  I realize I am going to need Andrew to help me move some things around to get me situated on the wheel.  Good friends of ours from our church here in NH, have been so generous and helpful to me in getting my studio going.  It is their garage that I am using as my studio.  They have helped me out tremendously.  I cannot thank them enough for their generosity!  They took care of the costs for my kiln to be properly hooked up and are giving me the space to work and make my business possible!  Thank you Bartells!!!

currently reading 81 degrees, sadly that is room temp

I realize that I posted a little while ago, that my goal was to be on the wheel and throwing by June.  I think I will barely make that goal by about a week, but it still counts!!  I have two orders to get going on and a few more purchases to make in order to be in business full swing, but it feels great to announce I am open for business.  My next purchases for my studio are for raw materials (to mix my glazes), a few random tools, a respirator mask, and ordering my business cards and artist cards in printed form.  This has been quite the adventure so far and I am sure it will remain so for a while.  Thanks to everyone who has been supportive of me and my progress.

  • Oh not at all! It works!! That is just the temperature of the kiln in the garage…that was what the air reads trapped in the kiln after being in the heat.

    I am excited too!ReplyCancel
