Service for twelve

One of the projects I am currently working on is making a full dish set (service for twelve).  So far it is going well.  Salad plates have been made and trimmed and the mugs are thrown, trimmed and handled.  Up next come the dinner plates and bowls.  This project will take me a little more time and planning than normal because I need to use plastic bats for each plate and bowl.  If I don’t use the bats then each piece will warp when I try to take it off the wheel.  Since I only have twelve bats at the moment, I have to work on one item at a time.  I do have plenty to work on in between making plates and bowls!

Exeter River and Mill

I don’t think I have ever shared some images of Exeter, NH and the walk I take to get to my little studio.  It takes me all of 6 minutes to walk from my apartment to my studio and this is my beautiful view, so I completely love the walk!

Isn’t it beautiful?  I love this town!  Well here are a few shots of the dinnerware I am currently working on.  I will be sure to give an update as the dinner plates and bowls come along for a preview of the full set.  Upcoming projects include hanging fire-guard board around the kiln, having my first bisque firing, ordering raw materials and mixing glazes, having my first test glaze firing, and of course more throwing!  So stay tuned!

I just forwarded your wordpress link to Judy Sowers, as she was asking all about you two. She was interested in placing an order, I think! = )

I would love a large fruit bowl (like a popcorn sized bowl), since the one I have has a crack and won’t last forever! But, no rush. I know you are in the midst of other projects. Just sometime.

    Love you,
