I love to label

Raw Materials labeled and organized

The past few days I have been on my own, so I have been spending a lot of time at work and in my studio.   When I am by myself for a few days, I like to keep busy to help from feeling lonely.  I organized and cleaned my studio space – which always feels good!  It was so fun to actually be putting the raw ingredients into these tubs and of course, labeling!  I think I tend to work in organized chaos.  I love to have a clean workplace before I actually sit down at the wheel or start whatever project is next.  I can get pretty messy, but I like to clean up my area well so I can start a new mess from a clean beginning.   I was actually hoping to start mixing my glazes after church today, but realized I need a mesh sieve before I mix.  This is a huge help.  It keeps the glaze nice and smooth without any lumps in it.  It’s like sifting the flour for a really fine batter.   It makes all the difference!   Once I get that, then I will get to mixing and finally get my tests fired!   Can’t wait!   Instead, I cleaned and organized today and started work on my next big series!  I am really excited about this one, but you will just have to wait and see.   I am not ready to reveal all just yet.

50 lbs of Ferro Frit, Flint, Kaolin. Plus 25 lbs of Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide

My new scale to measure out my glazes!
