Practice makes perfect right? Well, I am hoping at least to perfect my lanterns. My first round of lanterns (four of them) were pretty successful. I have some things to work out for this next round of lanterns, but I am really excited for the direction that my work is headed. The lanterns in this batch are larger and taller, which I am very excited about. I was actually a bit fearful that I was making them too tall for my own kiln! After measuring, however, I am in the clear and will be able to fire them just fine. I will only have room for the lanterns, but the kiln lid will close and that is what matters! Today’s agenda is quite full. I am going to finish my first lanterns (by this I mean remove the pedestal rings and grind down the bottoms so they are smooth). I also have to pack, since we are going home tonight to MD right after Young Life club! That’s right…we are driving through the night to be home for Thanksgiving! I can’t wait! I also have to organize new items that will be going up on Etsy for sale. I won’t bore you with the rest of my “to do” list, but here is a glance at the new lanterns that I am currently working on.
