Naked Plates

I am happy to say my two glaze firings went very well!  Yesterday I headed over to Naked Plates to open the kilns and pick up my work.  I was relieved to find nothing broke or glued together in the kiln!  It is a relief knowing I have more to add to my craft fair.  It was looking quite sparse with my own kiln still out of commission for the time being.  The odd thing about the firings was that only one of the kilns actually crystallized.  The other one definitely peaked in temperature, but it looked like it didn’t hold for the four hours to allow for the crystals to grow.  The kiln that did crystallize had all of my teapots and most of my bowls in it, so I am glad those were in that kiln.  Everything can be ready to sell at the craft fair and I am happy about that.  Even the pieces that didn’t crystallize sill came out with a nice effect!

After unloading the kilns, I boxed up my pieces and then carried them down two flights of stairs to load into the car and take home.  My legs are a bit sore today after going up and down all of those stairs with heavy boxes.

I will be spending the rest of today and tomorrow grinding down the pots and getting them ready for the big day on Saturday.  I am actually starting to get excited for this.

Thank you Naked Plates!  You were a lifesaver!
