Dinnerware: Mugs

As I continue on with my test firings in hopes that I will figure out the right firing to get my crystals back in swing, I am keeping up with my throwing plans and schedule.  I have been working on a number of things, but one in particular is dish ware.  I am creating six different sets of dishes.  I started by making the mugs for the sets so I can create the bowls and plates to coordinate with the mug.  Everything will be styled around the mug.  These are the six mugs I am going to be working with.  Each set of dishes will contain service for four.  There are also four pieces to each place setting:  dinner plate, lunch plate, bowl and mug.  Each will be glazed in a different crystalline glaze as well.  I have high hopes to display the sets around the table at my fall show…but we shall see how all turns out with my kiln.  I think it would be a really neat display.

When I head off to the studio today, I will be monitoring the peak of my glaze firing and its soak times as well.  I changed the firing a bit since I have new elements and have been encourage to try this.  Since everything has been over-firing, I hope my program will fire better today.  We shall see.  I fired up the kiln last night at 10 pm.  Should still be climbing.
