I have some exciting news to share with you all. Yes, Andrew and I are going to have a baby! I realize there is so subtle way to make such an announcement because it is just that…an announcement! (Are you still reading those first lines over and over again?) Maybe this picture will help you:
A few weeks ago I decided it was time to take one of these tests. It was a Friday morning and I woke up around 6:50 am. Unable to sleep any more, I slipped into the bathroom and decided to go ahead and take the test. This was the result I found. I just kept staring at in shock, unable to move. In my head I kept saying, one bar plus one bar equals two. Two bars means I am pregnant. One bar plus one bar equals two…that means I am pregnant! Really? REALLY? Ok, they make this simple for a reason! Then I snapped back into the present time and was moving around randomly saying, Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! For a split second I debated whether to wake Andrew and tell him the news or wait till he woke up. I then ran into our bedroom calling out his name. Startled awake, he opened his eyes to see me sitting on the edge of the bed with this positive pregnancy test in front of him. While he blinked multiple times and tried to register what was going on, I saw his eyes grow big with the realization of my news!
We were laughing and hugging and then I started crying. I was instantly scared but thrilled as the same time. We just sat there in disbelief and excitement. We couldn’t stop smiling all day (and even still).
We kept the exciting news to ourselves for a few days until we could Skype with both of our parents to tell them . They were so excited as well. (Keeping the news quiet was no easy task. We were dodging friends’ curious questions all through the weekend.) The next day we called our siblings to tell them they were going to be Uncles and Aunts. We let our families share the news with our extended relatives and waited to start telling friends until after our first doctor appointment. I have had three since we first found out. It is just so surreal and wonderful. I am still going to continue on in my pottery work, I will just have to adjust and adapt as my belly grows! The best thing was at our last doctor appointment. I had my first ultrasound and we actually got to see our baby and see the heartbeat! Simply amazing! I am due somewhere around May 20th. That will be confirmed more at my next appointment. Here is the first image of our little tiny baby!
If you are not sure what you are looking at, the baby is that little peanut inside the black circle against the side! We are excited to share with you our amazing news and keep you updated along the way.
