As I prepare for the Yuletide Craft Fair next Saturday, I am working on some last-minute preparations. I am continually firing the kiln, but have also done some throwing! It sounds crazy to still be throwing for the fair and it feels even crazier to be doing it! I am not throwing a ton, just a few items: bowls, nativity candle pots, cream and sugar sets, collecting dishes and pedestals. Most of everything is drying out right now to be bisque fired and then glazed. I just need to keep plugging away so I will be ready for the big day.
These nativity candle pots are quite a bit larger than the candle pots I have done in the past so that the nativity scene could wrap around the pot. This idea actually came from a custom order. Someone wanted one of these made and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of that idea yet. So, I made hers and then made a few extras!
I am excited for these bowls. Large open bowls show crystals so well. I like to flip them upside down so that the bottoms of the bowls can dry out evenly. Today I am trimming the cream and sugars, adding handles to them, throwing pedestals and collecting dishes. Almost there.
