Next to dinnerware, earring trees are still one of my best-sellers. I actually really enjoy throwing these on the wheel. They are quick to throw and I like to give each one their own little flare – especially since they are intended for individual sale. I wish I could say that these were an original idea. They are not. I will say, however, that my particular design and shape is original. The very first “earring pot” I saw was actually in a glass blowing shop. There was a small shelf of pottery on display in the back corner of the store and the earring pots were among them. I thought it was such a clever idea! I wanted to get one except it would not hold the amount of earrings that I have – I have a lot. The ones I were looking at probably held around 10 pairs of earrings. The first one I made, I made for myself. It held 30 pairs of earrings and I kept my stud earrings in the center of the pot. (Those studs of course were hard to find the matchers to.) I then started to play around with the design of the pot and that is how I came up with my Earring Tree. Each one holds between 50 and 75 pairs of earrings around the rim of the pot. I created a tray on the bottom of each one (all thrown in one piece on the wheel) that is large enough to hold both stud earrings and rings. This made stud earrings so much more visible and easier to find. I also started to make the center bowl a bit larger to be able to hold more things like big costume rings or bracelets. I just posted a bunch of them on Etsy. They usually don’t stay on Etsy for too long (a huge thanks to you fans of my work out there)! I also started to sell these at one of our local shops here in Downtown Exeter, Serendipity! (Such an awesome store!) Hope you find one you love! Thanks to all of you who have been them a best-seller! I greatly appreciate your business and support!
