Sweden is on my list of places to travel. If I ever get there I want to find the cafe called Chokladkoppen (The Chocolate Cup) and order a frothy cup of their white hot chocolate. I can only image how perfect that cup of cocoa would taste from their actual cafe. Until then, I will just have to make it from their recipe at home…which is rather decadent!
I am a lover of all things chocolate, especially a steamy mug of hot chocolate. I am not talking about a packet of swiss miss (I still love that), but hot chocolate made from actual whole milk, melted chocolate and other incredible spices and extracts. I have this awesome cookbook entitled Hot Chocolate and in that book there is the recipe for Het Choklad Vit that comes from the cafe Chokladkoppen in Stockholm, Sweden. My book describes this cafe as such – “Small, hand-made tables and chairs are provided for natives and tourists who come for the city’s best hot chocolate, topped with a froth of steamed milk, served in ceramic cups and bowls, and accompanied by gargantuan cinnamon rolls.”
Yes please! It is so delicious and all the more enjoyable in a hand-crafted mug. The only thing I am missing now is a “gargantuan cinnamon roll”.
If you want to try out this drink, here is the recipe:
Het Choklad Vit
1 cup whole milk
4 ounces Valrhona Ivoire White Chocolate, chopped
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract,
1 orange slice
In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat until very hot but not boiling. Gradually add the white chocolate to the hot milk, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Stir in the vanilla. Remove from the heat and froth with a steamer or immersion blender. Pour into a mug and arrange the orange slice as a garnish. Serve immediately. Makes 1 Serving.
